New Flagship Store in Geneva

Victorinox has opened its first flagship Store in Switzerland at Geneva in November 2009. Subsequent to the Brand Stores in New York, Tokyo and Paris, this is the second Victorinox Flagship Store worldwide after the store on New Bond Street in London`s exclusive shopping district that was opened in November 2008.

Inside this Victorinox Flagship Store in Geneva, the entire product range is on display over approximately 500 sq.m. spread over three floors. The Victorinox range includes not only the famous Swiss Army Knives but also household and professional knives, timepieces, travel gear, fashion, and fragrances.

Like the Flagship Store in London, the Geneva store is distinguished by interior furnishings typical for Victorinox. It mirrors in a contemporary way the core values and features of this traditional Swiss brand : quality, functionality, iconic design and innovation.

The "Center for Innovation" at St. Gallen University (HSG) and htp management consulting, also based in St. Gallen, analyzed for the very first time the innovation force coming from Swiss companies. From the 790 named companies Nestle was mentioned first in the ranking of the 12 most innovative Swiss enterprises. Victorinox accomplished a remarkable 10th position in the total ranking, scoring mainly in the chapters "products" and "sustainability". In the division "producer of consumer goods" Victorinox is listed 2nd sharply behind Nestl?. The authors concluded that for the perception towards the  public not the number of innovations is crucial, but the quality of the individual innovations. Therefore companies which consequently follow a "really innovative idea" over the years are perceived more innovative than companies that continuously modify and renew their products.




World-wide Road Show

TO MARK ITS 125th ANNIVERSARY THE WORLD-FAMOUS VICTORINOX BRAND PRESENTS ITS MANY DIFFERENT FACETS
Everyone has heard of the "Original Swiss Army Knife".  But do you know all the other Victorinox products?  This year, the legendary company based in Switzerland celebrates its 125th anniversary and is determined to make a wide audience aware of that fact.  Under the motto "125 Years - Your Companion for Life" a travelling exhibition recounts on film and in photographs the history of this pioneering Swiss enterprise since the day Karl Elsener first opened his cutler`s workshop in 1884.

The road show, in the form of an attractive 8 m2 booth, started in Switzerland, where this success story began and winds its way through Germany for all to see from August to October 2009.  At the same time, six other road shows will be underway in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan starting in June.  Since April, the exhibition is in a "Victorinox Limited Edition" Airstream travel trailer on the road throughout Canada and the United States.  Under our chosen theme "125 Years - Your Companion for Life", Victorinox invites visitors to take part in a journey through the past into the present.




CEO of Victorinox AG in China

Mr. Carl Elsener, CEO of Victorinox AG, visited the Victorinox offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong in July 2009 as part of his annual Asia trip. To commemorate the 125th anniversary of Victorinox this year, Mr. Elsener attended the celebration parties in both offices, where each of the employees was presented with a memorial gift - a Swiss Army Knife engraved with the 125th anniversary logo, as a token of appreciation.

During his trip, Mr. Elsener also visited our brand stores and attended several press interviews.




Environmental Protection

The well-known pocketknife manufacturer, Victorinox in Ibach-Schwyz, is sending out a clear message for practical environmental protection through its Green Shield program.

The company will launch activities for each month of the current year and beyond, such as May Bike Month, Muscles not Motors, and Saving with Power and Light. Through this, the company will promote the use of public transportation, riding bikes and saving energy at the workplace and in everyday practice. Even the purchase of seasonal fruit and vegetables as well as energy-saving appliances should be encouraged - and for this, Victorinox plans to work closely with local producers and retailers.

The company`s contributions to protecting the environment are manifold.  Our factory here in Ibach uses only as much heating oil as a single-family home, which is sensationally little, explained media head Hans Schorno. Thanks to an ingenious heat recovery system, 120 apartments near the plant are heated.
